How
to Volunteer
Follow these steps to
volunteer:
Medical
Professionals
WAHVE
(Washington
Health Volunteers in Emergencies) is
a web-based registry for Washington healthcare professionals who are willing
to provide their time, skills, and knowledge during a public health emergency
or disaster.
1)
Register in WAHVE.
2)
We strongly recommend that you then volunteer with a Medical Reserve Corp or
other volunteer-based community response team. See your local emergency
management office for more volunteer opportunities. Contact information is listed below under
Region 8 Partners.
Medical
Reserve Corps
register, train and organize people interested in offering assistance during
a public health emergency or disaster.
No medical background is required, just a willingness to learn and
help. There are two Medical Reserve
Corps units in Region 8 under development.
3)
Visit your local emergency management office and complete an emergency worker
volunteer application. Contacts can be
found below under Region 8 PHEPR Partners.
Non-Medical
Volunteer
(yes, there’s lots of non-medical help needed!)
1)
Volunteer with a Medical Reserve Corp or other volunteer-based community
response team. See your local
emergency management office for more volunteer opportunities. Contact
