Abbot Formula Recall

2/18/2022 URGENT RECALL: Abbott has issued a recall for their Similac Powder formulas.

  • Similac Powder - Advance, Total Comfort, Sensitive, and Spit Up
  • Alimentum Powder

    Recalled formulas have lot numbers starting with 22-37 (see image) and with expiration date of April 2022 or later.

    If you have one of these cans, DO NOT feed your baby the formula.

  • If a purchased can is eligible for the recall, preserve the can and return it to the grocery store for an exchange. All shoppers – including WIC shoppers – should rely on retail grocery stores to manage the exchange.  They may be able to exchange for non-recalled formula, a gift card, store credit or a store refund in cash.  During the recall WIC families can accept a gift card, credit or cash refund.

    • When a store credit is issued, caregivers may purchase any brand of formula.
    • When cash is issued, caregivers may go anywhere to purchase any brand of formula.
    • If the store cannot provide an exchange, store credit or refund, caregivers should call their clinic.
  • Hold on to the recalled formula for now and mark “do not use”. Or return it to the WIC clinic;

    If you can’t get a hold of your local WIC clinic, call the state office at 1800-841-1410 Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
